The central battle of the unification, immortalized on the Narmer Palette. King Narmer led a massive fleet and infantry units from the south deep into the swampy and difficult-to-access Nile Delta. In a large-scale pitched battle, the technologically superior troops of Upper Egypt met the coalition of Delta chieftains.
