The Battle of Egypt, 1942- Blood-transfusion image: two patients lie in the tent of an advanced casualty clearing station in the North African desert. The foremost man, with blonde curly hair, is undergoing a blood transfusion. His bandaged right arm is raised and attached to an intravenous blood drip, the IV bag suspended from the tent ceiling. His other arm is also heavily bandaged in a sling. Both men appear to be fast asleep, to the extent that the blonde man does not notice several desert flies resting on his face.

The Battle of Egypt, 1942- Casualties - 'the Overflow' image: A tarpaulin sheet is attached to a military truck to provide sufficient shade in the desert for a group of wounded officers resting beneath. In the background are more military vehicles and an officer being stretchered by two medical staff.

British soldiers fire artillery, destroyed tanks and planes lie in the distance. Below reads 'British guns blast a way through Axis defenses in North Africa' 5l-3409.
