What second major should I do to compliment a History degree?
I am looking to go back to college to get a History bachelors degree. As my school of choice also requires either a minor or second major, I am looking for a major that will compliment my History degree.

Should I double major in History & Political Science, History & Geography, or something else?

If it’s American History you are majoring in, then I would suggest Poli Sci, Econ, or English…But if you want to focus on history of a foreign region (for example: Russia and Eastern Europe), then major in Russian Studies or Russian itself.

Good Luck

Mine is geography, well it is actually my minor but I am going into my grad studies to work on geographical history. Honestly, a history degree is worthless on its own, we know that going into it as academic is overcrowded. So you have to have something else, and geography is a really practical and still growing field, one of the few left where you can get a good (government even) job with a Bachelors degree. They do a lot with government agencies, all sorts of settlement planning, mapping, it is really a huge field and works perfectly with history, which is why I chose it. So you can study something like migration patters in early cultures (which I am fond of) or something modern like GIS applications. This makes it much easier for you to find employment.

Take Accounting as none of the second majors listed will help you the least little bit in getting a job.
