From what I know, the first human fossils found in that area, were dated back to 100,000 BC.

We Korean learn that our history has been about 5000 years.

The earliest known Korean pottery dates back to c 8000 BCE or before. This pottery is known as Yungimun Pottery (ko:?????) is found in much of the peninsula. Some examples of Yungimun-era sites are Gosan-ri in Jeju-do and Ubong-ri in Greater Ulsan. Jeulmun or Comb-pattern Pottery (????) is found after 7000 BC, and pottery with comb-patterns over the whole vessel is found concentrated at sites in west–central Korea between 3500–2000 BC, a time when a number of settlements such as Amsa-dong and Chitam-ni existed. Jeulmun pottery bears basic design and form similarities to the J?mon culture in Japan and to that of the Russian Maritime Province, Mongolia, and the Amur and Sungari River basins of Manchuria.
The people of the Jeulmun practiced a broad spectrum economy of hunting, gathering, foraging, and small-scale cultivation of wild plants. It was during the Jeulmun that the cultivation of millet and rice was introduced to the Korean peninsula from the Asian continent.
Koreans are taught that there are 5000 years of Korean history. This belief comes from the dictator Park Chung-hee’s campaigns to promote Korea in the 1970s, which many Koreans still believe.
There is some evidence of humans living in Koreaas far back as 30,000 years ago, but that is prehistory, not history. History is what is recorded. There is no strong evidence of Korean civilization with written history going back to 3000BC, despite what Koreans claim. There are not even big 5000-year-old remains like Stonehenge in the UK.
The British do not claim a history going back as far as the Egyptians while many Koreans do, despite the lack of evidence.
According to my textbook Paleolithic human remains were found in northeast Korea so at least hundreds of thousands of years but the beginning of Korean culture starts at around 6000 BCE as evidenced by the Chulmun pottery.
