I am a born a raised US citizen. I remember the happiness of this day. I was at the Czech/W. Germany crossing point 9 months early and said to myself - this will not stand! But guess it still had 20 years before it’s demise.
I was in Argentina during the start of their troubles. It is so quick - it happens in a blink of an eye. I fear for the US.
I see Germany has returned to the top after reunification. It’s nice to see hard work,self responsibility, and doing the right thing pay off

The Nightmare of East Germany and Soviet Union is NOT a true show of Socialism. EVERY ideal, every noble thought of freedom, fairness, and equality, every person striving for the common good, was UTTERLY betrayed by that totalitarian nightmare. Socialism is not about opression, it is the opposite. If you cannot see that, then you are sorely mistaken. The founding fathers of Socialism would weep at the betrayal of our ideology, both by the Soviet Oppressors, and those who cannot see past them.

i was like 12 when the wall fell. i can remember watching it live on the news. i am really glad i witnessed such a great day in history.

It was bullshit but it was a necessary change. I just hate how great Germany was kept like that for decades.
When a nation is governed like a prison camp the anger, resentment and desire for freedom become so great that the slightest breach soon becomes a rushing torrent. The pressure against the walls becomes so great that it is like the sea pressing against a dyke. The smallest, microscopic crack will lead to total failure. In countries where people are free there is no outward pressure on the borders. In America we are threatened by an incoming deluge.

@BabySabrina07 you didn’t? the pressure from the people on the Western side actually helped the events to unfold the way they did. The folks who besieged the “Wall” platforms at Brandenburg Gate were West Berliners, because that part of the border was actually located on/in West Berlin Territory. :)
@GodBotherer1 ……….. They do this as it sounds COOL to them to be part of something that got up the noses of older people. They are Rebelling against the Governments of which ever nation they are in, as they also feel they do not have a voice, just like the Germans did not have a voice over the wall being built etc. They also think that being part of a GANG is better than being alone. I really do agree with you, but I can also see their view of their world to.
didnt see west germans running to east hahahhaa. this just show how discontented the east germans in their govt.
