IT History Society Names New Member of the Board

The IT History Society (http://www.IThistory.org) is pleased to announce that William Hugh Murray has joined as a member of the Board of Directors of the IT History Society. Mr. Murray will be joining existing board members such as Lee Keet of Vanguard Atlantic, Gideon Gartner who is founder of the Gartner Group, James Cortada of IBM, Peter Cunningham of INPUT, Ted Withington of Arthur D. Little, and Jeffery Stein of Peyton Investments, Inc.
Mr. Murray has a long and distinguished career in information technology and notably in network security architecture, encryption, and secure electronic commerce. His early career was with IBM for 25 years and later with the Naval Postgraduate School and Verizon Business.
“Adding Bill to the IT History Society Board complements and extends the Society’s mission,” said Jeffery D. Stein, Chairman of the Board.

The growing rooster of the IT History Society, now standing at 500 members, includes Caltech, Agilent, ACM History Committee, Applied Materials, Computer Conservation Society, Deutsches Museum, Hewlett Packard, IBM, INPUT, INTEL, The Internet Archive, Microsoft, the Smithsonian Institution, Symantec, Center for Technology Innovation, Charles Babbage Institute, Computer History Museum, IEEE History Center, Mid-Atlantic Retro Computing Hobbyists, and the U.K. National Archive for the History of Computing.
The IT History Society assists in the collaboration of like-minded institutions and individuals to expand the reach of historical and archival activities while at the same time communicating to the private sector the value of preserving their history and heritage for generations to come.
The IT History Society exists to enhance and expand works concerning the history of information technology and to demonstrate the value of IT history to the understanding and improvement of our present and future world.
